Supplies needed:
Black card stock – 3 pages
White card stock – 1 page
Acetate or clear acrylic sheet – 1 page
Pencil to draw details on cut pieces
Alcohol ink markers to color cut file image
Wet glue
Double-sided foam tape
Sequins, beads and/or tiny glass beads to go inside shaker
Black permanent marker
Brother Scan N Cut machine
Cutting mat
Cutting blade
Pen holder with brown pen
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Load the Scan N Cut machine with the digital cut file JWCF 456 lego pirate, girl and
Resize each of the images to 5” high by 4” wide
Use the Scan N Cut pen holder with a water-soluble pen with brown color
Load the white card stock on mat and choose the option to draw
Once the images have drawn, change the pen for a cutting blade.
se the Scan-to-cut Data feature to add ¼” to the outside of the image. Save the file.
Do not unload the mat and then cut out the images
Use a pencil to add details to each image such as eyes, mouth and clothing details.
Use alcohol ink markers, water colors, or colored pencils to color the images.
Use double-sided foam tape around the outside edge of the colored images. Set this
aside for later.
Create frame and outline images. Use the Brother Canvas Workspace (web-based, free
software) to create these cut files. I used software from Floriani called Craft N Cut to
create the cut files.
Cut from black card stock one outline and two frames for each image.
outline image to cut one acetate for each image.
Glue the acetate to the frame for each image.
Glue the outline to the back side of each color image.
Place the colored image face up with the black outline down.
Sprinkle contents of shaker (sequins, beads or tiny glass beads) into the center of the image.
Carefully remove the paper from the top of the foam tape. Try not to get any debris on the foam tape.
Carefully align the acetate and line up with the colored image. Gently press the acetate onto the foam tape.
Glue the other frame on top of the other outline.
Use a black permanent marker on the edges.
You can attach this shaker to a card, create a stand, or just have fun shaking it.
