It wasn't so long ago that I feared using paint on a scrapbook layout. I hadn't really discovered mixed media and didn't really feel I was any type of artist. This layout was just dipping my toe in the water, so to speak. A bit of acrylic paint and some stamping was about my limit. A few years on and I now enjoy all sorts of 'smooshing', paint flicking and general messiness!
Experimenting with Mixed Media - Let the fun begin!
I have learnt so much from online classes, You Tube videos and Facebook lives. My favourites being Vicki Boutin's Friday Night Live (check out her Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/Vicki.Boutin.Artist ) and the wonderful Kate Crane (I am a huge fan of her stamps too). My most recent experiment, learning from Kate Crane, was to use alcohol inks on the gelli plate... gasp! The results were stunning.
Taking it one step further
So I am now learning to consider ways to take my mixed media journey one step further... adding layers, textures and even stitching. I have never been any good at sewing, but sewing on paper is a whole different experience. I have purchased a simple sewing machine and I am away! So many possibilities and so little time!
